Daily Devotional | Depending On God Always

Matthew 6:30, 31 NKJV
“Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’”
The desired relationship God wants with His people is that they should Trust Him. Not only because someone told us, but also for us to embrace the reality that God is Almighty, Supreme and Faithful! As a believer, we should always be cognisant of what God wants for us. We need to see ourselves as God sees us. We need to tell ourselves what God told us. In 1 Peter 2:9, we are reminded that we are chosen to serve God, and as His priests, He (God) will supply our needs. In Jeremiah 29:11, we are reminded that God’s plan for us is good and not evil, so when we are faced with giants, we should be able to know that it won’t be permanent.  In Philippians 4:19, we are reminded that in Christ,  God will supply all our needs! Amen. What you don’t have today can be what you will have in abundance tomorrow!
When you refuse to accept the truth of God, the lies of the devil will begin to manifest in your life. This leads to anxiety, fear, strife, envy, jealousy, sickness, rejection, lies, malice, and all that contradicts the fruit and manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Satan is the enemy of your promises -the word of God. He wants to deny you as he denied Adam and Eve the luxury of Eden! God forbid!! The Bible says that, “My people are perished for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). The Bible alone is a weapon of victory. It is your deed of right to God’s inheritance. But, you have to position yourself, dispose your enemy and possess your possessions! This is simple and possible but only through OBEDIENCE. If Our father can supply the needs of  the fish, birds, trees, angels, etc. -what about you, His ambassadors, His child, His joint heir with Christ?
We are human… True! But to doubt God in tough times is a sin. This is a lack of faith, and a lack of faith is lack of knowledge of the word of God (Romans 10:17). When you worry to the point of ignoring the truth, your faith is useless. Faith should remind you to depend on God.  If you are a true believer, your trials must strengthen you! Big trials are a reminder that your BIG Testimony is around the corner! If your test does not result in a testimony, you doubted or denied God. When your trials draw you near to God, you must conquer like your predecessors.  Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day  is  its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:32-34 NKJV)  The word Gentile means ‘Heathen’, which translates, idol worshippers! When you forsake God due to what you lack and need, you diminish who God is.
What will you do differently today? Do you truly believe God for all your needs? If you still have doubts, ask God to reveal and strengthen you to overcome fear. Fear is the opposite of faith, and “..without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). Stay blessed.
Scripture of the day: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
