Daily Devotional | Answer The Call

Matthew 22:14 NKJV
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

What does Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Samuel, the prophets…have in common? THEY ANSWERED THE CALL!!  More than likely God called many more, but they did not answer.

We must be willing to answer God’s call when it comes.  Noah answered God’s call to build the ark.  Abraham answered God’s call to leave Ur.  Moses answered God’s call to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt.  There are three basic elements in answering the call of God.  First, you must know God. Second, you must respond by faith.  Lastly, you can’t turn back.

Knowing God intimately is essential to hearing his voice.  When God has a special job to do, He calls someone who he has a relationship with.  He knows each one of His children intimately.  He knows our strengths and weaknesses, what we are capable of.  God knows better than you do what you can accomplish. He will never ask you to do something he hasn’t equipped you to do.  Never forget, God calls us for a specific purpose at different times in our lives according to His plan.

But once you hear the call of God, and you respond by faith, you then can’t turn back. Jesus said, “no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”  Once you answer the call of God, you will be attacked! As Christians, you must know, the devil is a liar! Satan and his demons will come at you from every direction.. in the form of temptation, procrastination, fear, depression, sickness, and more. Make sure you are clothed with that divine energy that only Christ can give. It is no use going to the Lord’s battle until we are armed with heavenly weapons–The word of God, Prayer, and Faith.

The call of God is always to something better–keep that in mind! God calls us into the joys and reality of eternal life. He calls us into purity of life and spirit, so that we may acceptably walk with Him. He calls us into a life of service and usefulness that brings glory to Himself as God. He calls us into the sweetest fellowship possible on this earth – the fellowship of the Holy Spirit!

Now, answering the call of God is not easy. It may require you to leave your comfort zone entirely. You may experience discomfort, confusion, and fear. Praying should become your number one priority accompanied by faith. Trust that God will never leave you or forsake you. You are being called for a higher purpose beyond what you are able to understand at this time. Know that when you answer the call, your reward in heaven is greater than anything here on this earth. In Jesus name. Amen.

Scripture of the day: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28 NIV

This is unique, true and encouraging. Sometimes, the idea of quitting sets in, but before it fades, a better assignment emerges. You are right. Prayer is the key!
