Daily Devotional | Breaking A Curse 101

Deuteronomy 11:26 NKJV
“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.”

A curse is when pain, sickness, obstacles, loss, death or other misfits like barrenness, unmarried life, divorces, mental illness, and all of those spiritual ailments that scientific solutions can not fix. The origin of a curse is derived from the Bible due to the fall of man. When man left God’s instructions for the lies of Satan, God pronounced a curse, to Satan first, then to the ground that produces the needs of man (Genesis 3:14-19)

There are other biblical references on curses. For example, Noah pronounced a curse over his son Ham for laughing at his nakedness, instead of having compassion and covering him (Genesis 9:25). For the murder of his brother, God cursed Cain to wander about aimlessly (Genesis 4:11-12). The sorcerer Balaam teamed with king Balak to curse Israel (Numbers 22-23). In Mark 11:20, Jesus cursed the fig tree for refusal to yield fruits in its season. There are many more examples where curses have been pronounced by God and people. Curses are real, and if not dealt with, and destroyed, they will shape who you are.

Every curse is a creation of the person that spoke it into existence. The bible says that “Death and life  are  in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21 NKJV). This is to say that whatever comes out of a persons mouth is alive. Again, the speaker will surely be given back at the end what they said.

In order not to digress from the main discussion of today’s devotional, Let me recourse…. Rejecting, reversing, and destroying a curse is only possible within these few windows:

1. To live a holy life like Christ, the Son of God. The problem with this window is that “… all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23 NKJV), so claiming to be holy is trying to make God a liar, and that is impossible.

2. To obey fully the entire Ten commandments. Also the 650+ adjoining laws. I believe that anyone who claims to do this is a lie!

3. You must identify and acknowledge truthfully that a curse exist within your life, then seek a solution. The lack or denial of this knowledge have a catastrophic and life ebbing consequences, as the prophet puts it; “(Hosea 4:6)

4. To accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In my opinion, this is the better, easiest and God’s designed window. God created us for His glory, and to depend on Him for everything. He put His seal on us, and does not will any one of us to perish. In the mind of God, any sinner should die, but since sin came through Satan, not man; God has to redeem us through Himself, Jesus Christ, and allow us the freedom to choose.

“Therefore, if anyone  is  in Christ,  he is  a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). Also, remember that “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— But the free gift  is  not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.” (Romans 5:12, 15 NKJV).

Our ability to reject curses and delete them is for anyone of us to be a branch of the Vine, Jesus Christ our Savior. To overcome and conquer is to tap from the tree of life, repent through confession of known sins, and fellowship in truthfulness.

You might say that you have no sin, but I will tell you otherwise. Make an evaluation of yourself using Deuteronomy 28:15-68. After reading these verses, I believe you will know that you are not qualified to save yourself or gain your freedom from generational curses, but to be a servant of Jesus Christ, whose blood breaks every yolk of curses. As a believer, you should know by now that regardless that the word of God is soft, soothing and healing, it is packed with ammunition, fulfilling whatever it said (literally and spiritually). We are cursed due to sins, and can only break loose through the blood of Jesus Christ. That is when our testimony becomes complete, and our test becomes a testimony. Amen.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”(John 3:16-19).

You can be free today, healed completely and restored freely.  In Christ is the fullness of your needs. You have been healed from all sicknesses, curses, bondage, fears, lack, oppression, etc. Remember that “by His stripes, we are healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

Stay blessed, free and favored.

Scripture of the day: Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. ~ John 3:36 NIV
