Daily Devotional | Evil Within, Devil Without

1 Peter 5:8 NKJV
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Many of us would agree that the greatest hurt we have experienced came from the very people we once called our best friends, associates, husbands or wives. It is amazing to know how the devil without recruits people close to us as the evil within.  Do not be deceived, your enemy is the devil, and him alone. He might recruit your best friend, family member, husband, wife, children or colleague to stay within, but the victory depends on whose arsenal you use; God’s, yours or the enemies.

In today’s devotional, I want you readers to know the various faces of the devil, and some of his evil trends. It is called the evil within for the devil without.

You have to know that God’s faithfulness encompasses all facets of His creations. When God gave Adam and Eve their boundaries, He wanted to protect them from the usurper, an enemy to His word; the devil or Satan. Having the foreknowledge who the devil is, God knew that satan is a master of crafts and disguise, so He warned Adam about the place to find him; “…the tree of good and evil…” (Genesis 2:17).  Within a short time, God’s word came to pass, and Adam failed the test. Evil is real and is around us daily. God gives us a choice to make whenever anything seem or looks too good to be true. Be watchful, sober, and vigilant, submitting to God, so that the power to resist be given to you.

It is absolute truth to know that the devil, evil or Satan is not a substance, but a characteristic endorsed by people or substance of wickedness. By this I mean that the devil can only use that man or woman who yields or allows himself or herself to be used. Regardless how mad or violent Satan is, he still needs (under the covenant law) an individuals approval to indwell. This approach and payoff to use a person for evil makes him visible, and plants him within. Luke 4:3-12 gave us a vivid image of the various negotiations between the devil and men for access to use them for evil, but knowing and abiding to the “whole word of God” (Ephesians 6:13) brings the total victory against him.

In today’s world, everything is now being determined by the media trend; Occults, homosexual lifestyles, false religion, new world order, suppression of Christianity, etc. We should not be ignorant, every member of these evil sects are people like us, who share homes, roads, offices, restaurants and schools. They are the people we see everyday, so we have to be smart dealing with them so that we are not hurt by them or entangled by their craftiness. Your failure to conquer them empowers the lawlessness of these evil practices, and is a total erosion of the remaining good in you. I am not surprised if you are hurting, resentful or keeping malice? That is their goal. Reject it, refuse it and regain your control.

Many secret societies have infiltrated our Universities, turning them into recruiting grounds, turning our children into adult monsters.  They offer them scholarships, positions on the football team, cheerleaders, deans list… sweet lies!  This is nothing new, it’s as old as the world, which is evidence that the devil is always working! Jesus once said, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26 NKJV). This is a question we should answer for ourselves and pass it on.

There is a movement today, led by the enemy, that has determined to destroy the institution of marriage. Not only does it target believers, they lure them into dating, long engagements, and never complete the marriage, even as they continue to make babies. This usurps God’s plan and commandments. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk free? The other branch is busy making it possible for men to marry men, and woman, woman. Yet, the other group wants to see the world unified into one religion, one currency and one central government. “The coming of the  lawless one  is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, (2 Thessalonians 2:9 NKJV) “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. (2 Thessalonians 2:7 NKJV) “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12 NKJV). Do not let your love for God, and for others grow cold. “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10 NKJV). “Blessed  is  the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James 1:12 NKJV).

As a Christian, remember that trials will surely come to you. The devil without must find the evil within against you. Treat it as you would treat the enemy without. Do not be naive to think that man who left you for another woman, or the wife that left you for another man, and now using the financial power to take your children, is acting alone! The devil is noted for his tormenting ability, but prayer is his poison. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual  hosts  of wickedness in the heavenly  places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:12-18 NKJV). Do not give up your hope, God is always victorious, and will not change because of you.

In conclusion, make yourself a ‘house of prayer’, joining forces with other believers. Pray always, and believe that you have victory. “And the God of peace will crush satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ  be  with you. Amen.” (Romans 16:20 NKJV).

Scripture of the day: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ~ Luke 10:19 KJV
